I take a group of small, very excited kids trick or treating and I can tell they start to get disappointed when they go from house to house that's decorated, knock on the door and wait for no one to answer.

I think they are stingy or do not like little kids.....I also think that they should not decorate their houses, if they are not going to treat the kids.

If someone doesn't answer the door, we figure they are taking their own kids trick or treating and didn't have anyone who could pass out candy for them. If there are no lights, we just go to the next house. The time we can take our kids out is between 2 pm and 5 pm, which most people who work aren't even off work yet.

People have the choice not to open their doors. They decorate the houses for themselves and what if they happened to have stepped out of theri houses themselves to go trick or treating?

I could care less about this holiday but I respect other people's wishes to either participate or not. And no I'm not the Grinch of Halloween.

Some people aren't fond of Haloween and in that case chould leave their home for the evening or shut off all lights, not decorate and not give confusing signals as to whether they will be trick-or-treated or not. Personally I think it's the stupidist holiday ever. Not only is it devilish it fills a bunch of little kids up with candy for days that make them sick....silly I tell ya!

I am too old to have trick or treaters - but everyone in the neighborhood knows that. I certainly do not put out any 'misleading' decorations, and I can see where that could disappoint or irritate the kids...

We have a gate that is set up to keep solicitors out and the dog in. So, a dish of goodies is put out front for all the little witches and goblins. We have had several children that have left due to our dog's bark; it can be a safety issue!

Some people don't feel they owe it to a bunch of strangers' kids to buy them a bunch of candy and spend two hours handing it out to them. And who knows, perhaps they don't owe it.

Not everyone is aglow with happy times and memories of parents or children or holidays, unfortunately.
