Of course, you send a thank you note on the day of the interview to thank the interviewer for their time to meet you, and to promote that you feel confidently able to uphold the reputation and praxctices of that business or company.

And you asked during the interview how long they think it would take, so add 2 days on from that time.

What do you mean you did not ask?

Allow a week before following up with a courtesy call to ensure they have no further questions about you, and if they had made a decision.

Hopefully you asked at interview how many more candidates were to be interviewed. If not then don't dispair. A week is the longest you would want to wait, an employer has usually made up his mind within 1 to 2 days after the interview.

It depends on what kind of interview. Phone interview or in person?

For phone interview: I like to wait about a week or a few days depending on what the interviewer said. Be sure to ask the interviewer when they expect to have a decision on the next step. If the interviewer said "We should have a decision on the next step within the next few days. I would e-mail them after 3 business days." If, they say they are still interviewing..I would wait one week.

For in person interview: Be sure to send an thank you note. Also, I would ask them when they would expect their decision..if it is within a few days..I would wait that then call. If they are vague..I would again give them a week but call them to follow-up. Then follow-up there after a week after your follow up. After all, the candidate pool should be smaller and usually most firms make a decision within 2 weeks..although I have had it when it has been 3.5 weeks and then they rejected me....very annoying.

Best of luck in getting a job.

I would give them three working days after the date they told you they would contact you by before contacting them. If you did not get a date, I would contact them on the sixth working day after the interview; i.e., give them five working days.
