go for the bus tour it picks up at the side of the princess mall every 20 mins, leave out the zoo the animals are always asleep go for coffee on the roya mile it takes you from edinburgh castle down to hollyrood palace there is a lovely pub called decon brodies on the royal mile thats fantastic for lunch and for dinner there are so many places to choose from depending on what you like, the ghost tours at nite are supposed to be scary but they aint but you should visit greyfriars bobbys grave and for drinks you have rose st which is good abd also the grass market there are clubs everywhere try to avoid subway its a horrible club but city is a good nite club which is at the back of the waverly train station just across from the edinburgh dungeons the locals are quite friendly just dont bring up hearts/hibs lol or if you fancy something different there is a new bingo hall (i know but trust me) in fountain park its all computerised and really good it has a reataurant and cheap drink too so hey you never know hope this helps x

when i had a flying visit to edinburgh about 17 years ago i didn't get much further than princes street, lol, but what a beautiful street.

and the castle overlooking the city looked so romantic too.

the only down side was how cold it was that october day, even colder than the north of england. so, wrap up warm and take your hot water bottle.

if edinburgh could be crossed with brighton, that would be pretty much heaven for me, edinburgh for it's splendour, majesty and beauty, brighton for it's laid back attitude and beach.

if you're looking for excitement, look up the city on the net, they may be able to inform you of fun stuff aswell as the cultured stuff.

enjoy your weekend!

The Castle is an obvious thing and Holyrood, cathedral and possibly the modern parliament. But I would strongly recommend the Scotch Whisky Heritage Centre. It is at the top of the Royal Mile. Very close to the castle. Excellent overview of different types of Scottish whisky. I do not think anythink beats that. Enjoy...:-)))

Pub crawl! Edinburgh has the most pubs per capita in the world (if I remember correctly). It's a great way to meet the locals too!

I don't know about new, exciting or fun but I'd really appreciate it if you'd send me a nice Scottish wool sweater. They're hard to find in the US without spending a fortune. Thanks in advance.
