You are quite right that it is unfortunate that the focus is almost entirely on the Middle East with much focus on Africa, but this is hardly a reasonable question - just Republican bashing. Regardless of who is in office (Republican or Democrat) Africa is and has been overlooked by the US. In fact almost all governments throughout the world pay little attention to Africa (certainly relative to their focus elsewhere) when they are led by a Progressive or Conservative party.

Your absolutely right, Saddam is an angel as far as the African dictators are concerned. Atrocities in Africa match anything the Jewish community had to suffer and of course fifty per sent of those in the German concentration camps were eastern Europeans probably many of which were Muslims. The African atrocities are open for intervention but 'Buffalo Bush' will not lift a finger to stem the tide of those poor Innocent men woman an children brutally raped sodomized and mutilated after being beaten to death or dying of starvation and that does not describe a tenth of the atrocities being carried out. There are really few words that describe a president that has gone to war for other purposes than to defend his country and although on a previous answer I expressed my outrage at our forces deserters. I can understand anyone not wanting to go to war unless it is to fight for your own country. To go to war to steal oil is somthing I would have to think about; as the deserters have. With nearly 655000 Iraqis dead in this conflict a Holocaust is coming to the worlds notice. The resultant holocaust is beginig to resemble that of germany; the difference is the gas chambers have made way for cluster bombs and upto date modern mass destruction weapons that can kill every one in a radius of five miles ect. Where are the Iraqi civilian population going to hide from these. The Iraqis want the allies out, perhapes the only way forward is to offer Saddam his old Job back.

As a conservative, I wish we would step in to help these people, especially in Darfur. I also realize that we can't step in everywhere at once so we have to pick priorities. Right now, we need to take out those who want to kill us then we can concentrate on stopping people killing each other.
