because, Madonna is no longer the shock "girl" and she's competing with Angelina Jolie.
She's adopted a baby from some country to get into the media again.

Madonna is adopting a Malawian baby boy (13 months old), who she personally picked out of a bunch in an orphanage in the poor village. The baby's mother died a week after giving birth due to fever.

They have adopted a little black boy called David, what i dont get is why everybody is slagging her off i think its a good thing, he will grow up loved fed and have money instead of being hungrey, poor and dying young. Good on Madonna!

She wanted a bit of attention, and apparently they have adopted a child because their marriage is in trouble - as a way of solving the problems. Why on earth get a child to solve your marriage problems though is beyond me.
