because they are really sick in their head (the person that says i love you and doesnt really mean it should be burned at the stake )

Why is a good question, usually because they think that those are magic words and you will give them what they want, usually sex.
Some never use the word until they find their one and only, those are few and far in between. It is easy to say you love someone, its the way they show it that counts. Sometimes people show their love before they are able to speak the words.

Actually, they do love that person. Perhaps it's a different kind of love. There are many definitions of "Love". We all have our meanings of what "Love" is. Unless they're liars and say "I love you" just to get some type of "pleasure" in return.

I know personally, that people that say I love you when they don't mean it, they usually want something else. There are a few people that say I love you and don't mean it, that say it to make you stay, they are afraid to be alone.

I think because it's the socially acceptable thing to do. How many times have you said I love you because someone else said it? You don't want that person to feel bad...so you just say it.

People often say it because someone said it to them or they think it is what the other person wants to hear.

Because, quite frankly, love has long since lost its original meaning. Love is now nothing more than lust. It is sad but true. Most of modern society is blind to the difference.

It depends on the situation. Some people do it cuz they don't want to hurt the other persons feelings, some others do it cuz they don't know what they really want? Some do it by force, like family, some do it cuz thier heartless...
