I would like to purchase a pda for multimedia use, but i know very little about how pdas perform as multimedia machines or how well cf or sd cards play back media or store information. any insight on using pda's as a multimedia device would be very helpful.

Give us the specs:

1. resolution: we know x51v is the VGA cousin of x51, how about HP 2795? you want VGA or at least extended Palm screen of 320x480 (yes they are better multimedia machines over Windows Mobile for same budget). Puny size like QVGA simply won't do.

2. CPU: higher the better, for playing desktop unconverted video files. XScale 400 MHz at least to pair up with high-resolution.

3. CF and SD is inconsequential. Memories aren't important too.

I have Tungsten T3 and iPaq 2215. Get TCPMP first thing after getting a Palm or Windows Mobile.

I have a Dell X50V which has a VGA screen. Here are the specs for both:

HP 2795:

Dell Axim X51V:

The specs are pretty close, so look and choose.
