I have an 85 GMC Suburban and the battery keeps draining. I have replaced the battery and alternator but it still drains. It only drains when I drive the truck. As long as it is in idle it is ok but when I drive and cut it off it acts like it doesn't want to start. Like there is a heavy pull on the battery. I was told that it might be the starter but I want more opinions. Can someone help me?

I would look at a Bad Positive or Negative cable. Replace both if you have to. There is also the possibility that you have a bad Voltage regulator. You may also not have the Alternator belt tight enough. If the car will start after it cools down then there is the possibility that the starter (because of heat) is failing. But I'm almost certain you will find the problem in the cables.

The starter won't drain the battery unless it doesn't disengage and keeps running. But I think you'd hear that. Besides you say it idles fine. I'm assuming the replaced alternator and battery are both not defective and you're not running any equipment that could drain a battery (like lots of electronic equipment). You may have an electrical short in you system...for example a bare wire may be touching bare metal. Have your electrical system checked out.

Try your voltage regulator, if it is toasted. That would kill your alternator as fast as you put anew one in and start it up. Boom that quick, you can take teh alt. back and get it replaced should cost you nothing, then go to another store and get the voltage regulator. They wont replace the alt if the voltage regulator is toasted.
