Well let them know as soon as possible its just for the best. As soon as I found out I was pregnant I told my boss and she was fine with it. It makes your pregnancy easier because believe me there will be times you will be running late and not even show up to work and knowing that your pregnant your boss will understand your tardies or absents. tell your boss right away

Congratulations!!!!
I asked my boss if she would talk with me when she had a moment. I told her I was pregnant, she was very supportive. She even approached me about suggestions for maternity leave, and gave numerous options. I think telling your boss right away, and letting them know you are not quite comfortable with everyone knowing is the responsible way to go. If you have a complicated pregnancy your boss will probably be more supportive knowing the situation in advance. (I have had 3 previous miscarriages 2 times I told my boss when I found out, and I needed time off for reccoperating. The 3rd time I didn't tell my boss, and I didn't take any time off. It was easier when someone knew what I was going through). I am currently on Pregnancy #4 (made it to 2nd trimester, but I told my boss at 6 weeks). I would also like to say if you have a technical job, you might want to give your bosses time to find a temporary worker to relieve you for maternity leave, or show co-workers how to do your duties so they are fully trained before you go on maternity leave.

glad it's you and not me!

About your job... it would depend on how long you have been at the job and what you do there and if you are married or not.... You don't want them to look down at you for being pregnant if you are single... I wouldn't but there are people "bosses" out there that are like that... I say about the length of time you have been there because if you are a good worker you may be looked at for a promotion but they may not give it to you if you are prego because they know you will be taking some time off from work and may not come back... and even though your bosses might be friendly they are not your friends.. just keep that in mind. Good Luck with the pregnancy and the baby!

First, talk to you Human Resources department to know what your rights are as a pregnant woman. Things to ask about are maternity leave and how regular appointments will be handled where they interfere with your schedule .I would tell your boss as soon as possible. You'll probably have morning sickness and you don't want to be dealing with that and having to explain what the problem is. Also, adjustments may need to be made to the work you do.

Good Luck and Congratulations!!

I was pregnant when I started my new job and I told my boss 3 weeks later, they were not happy. I ended up losing the baby the next week. My suggestion is to wait until 12 weeks when your chances for loss drop down

I'm currently almost 18 weeks pregnant but I'm now my own boss

Good luck

Congrats.

I wouldn't tell your boss until you are nearing the end of your first trimester and into the "safe zone" regarding miscarraige. I know it's not something you want to think about at a time like this, but if it does happen the last thing you would want to do is go back and talk to your boss and say "oh... ok so yea... nevermind, I'm not pregnant anymore."

Good Luck!

You should inform them as soon as possible.

Suppose you end up with an extremely complicated pregnancy...they should know so that in that event they can hire a temp to take your place; you'll also want to take off at least 6 weeks post partum, and maybe even might need some time off toward the end of your pregnancy, so you should make sure they can plan to temporarily fill your position.

Besides, they're going to figure it out eventually anyway - best for everyone if you don't just spring it on them when you're six or seven months along....

When I got pregnant I was a caregiver for a group home I had to lift people that were close to my weight so I told my co-workers so they could help me then I just let the news spread to my boss, but if you have a job like that I would say to tell them right away so you dont have to do major labor, if not do what you feel is right.

Congratulations! How long have you been with the company? If you are an established employee, the sooner you tell upper management, the better. This will give them plenty of time to schedule a temp during your maternity leave. If you're a newbie, wait until you are 12 weeks, which is the "safety zone" as far as miscarriages are concerned.

Lol I don't know if this is a good example, but I told my boss when I was like 6 months along. He didn't even notice! I joked that maybe he thought I was just getting fat, but he really didn't notice. (Probably occupied with watching my boobs grow. SLOB PIG) But break it to him/her when you are comfortable! I think you can search online and find out legally what your rights are and what time you are supposed to allow your employer to find a replacement for while you are on maternity leave and stuff like that. Search on yahoo! I found a lot of stuff there that was very very helpful.
