The security code is with the handbook etc, tells you in the handbook how to do it too.

If you haven't got the code, try this=
Remove battery from fob, clean the contacts in the fob and then keep pushing the button for about 10 seconds to discharge it.
Refit the battery, lock the car manually then stand outside the car pushing the button repeatedly.
You will find after about 10 seconds the remote locking will pop up and the immobiliser will turn off.
That means it's all back to normal.
Hope this helps.
EDIT
You can get a key fob of ebay but then you have to have it reprogrammed, an ex Rover Dealership will still have the stuff to do it. Not to sure on price.

Yes you are correct, If you have the code you can disarm the alarm by turning the key right/left the correct number of times.

I had my keyfob recoded cos of problems, the person who does this can then give you the new code.
I would imagine a main dealer could do this and charge the earth, as they do.
I went to a backstreet Rover specialist, he was ex Rover mechanic and had all the correct Rover software to do this.

So Id try the yellow pages and ask people if they can do it. But from waht I understand its pretty specialist.
BTW those fobs are over £100 from the dealer.

Ps Jizzis advice is good, I tried that, but in the end it was the fob that was faulty, the bloke eventually, reprogrammed it but with difficulty. Sounds like youve got the same problem

all rovers have a different code try this one
undo the fob take the battery out hold both buttons down for
30 to 40 sec put battery back in and keep pushing the left
button about 10 times if it does not work with the left one try
the right but you have to take the battery out and do it again
do all this when you are in the car

you will know that it has work when the centrel locking goes up and down .

Each manufacturer has a different over-ride code.

The problem arises if you are out of range from your vehicle and the buttons get pressed too many times (in your pocket etc). Effectively the key fob and the car's security system get out of sync.

Check with the manufacturer. The resets can be quite elaborate... press button A, then start engine, press button B, turn engine off, then press button A and B at the same time, then re-start the engine etc etc.

Good luck mate ;)
