Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Advanced > Settings under Performance > Advanced tab > Change under Virtual Memory.

If you use windows nt, 2000, or xp hit control alt delete together and the task manager will come up. go to performance and there is an option that says memory cahce. that will tell you the current amount of ram being devoted to the system as cache...

For 98/me I don't know as the task managers or different...
