I'm runing XP and I have the latest version of Firefox.

It seems a good 25% of the time I'm using firefox I always get those message boxes:

"firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience....Send Error report, Do not Send Error Report"

I love Firefox but because of there errors I just end up using IE.

I've have FF for months now but there errors have only been going of for the last few weeks.

A plugin for Yahoo messenger caused mine to crash all the time, and I found a fix at MozillaZine. Here's a link to the forum page: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=457254&highlight=yahoo+plugin+crashes+firefox

If that dosen't work, I copied the instructions (from craigevil) from the link above. You have to change a filename under the Yahoo folder.

Firefox crashes - MozillaZine Knowledge Base
Quote:
If you have installed Yahoo! Messenger on your system, you may experience crashes when using Yahoo! Mail. This is caused by the Yahoo! Application State plugin (bug 326344). To see if this is the cause of your problems:

Type about:plugins in the Location Bar and press Enter. If you find "Yahoo! Application State" ("npYState.dll") in the installed plugins list, exit Firefox, open the C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\shared folder and rename the file "npYState.dll" to "XnpYState.dll" to disable the plugin. Open Firefox and test Yahoo! Mail.

I can't answer your question other than to say that it sounds like a conflict with other software you're running. I've got the latest version of Firefox and I like to experiment with all sorts of stuff that might cause a problem, but Firefox has been rock-solid. It's never crashed, whereas Internet Explorer has done so several times--and I take the time to ensure that IE and Windows XP are always upgraded with the latest patch from the Microsoft Update web site. I'd suggest looking at whatever other software or drivers you might have installed recently, although this is a painstaking trial-and-error approach that isn't easy to do with Windows. I'd also ensure that your version of Windows has been upgraded with the latest patches from Microsoft. I have other problems with Windows XP, but none of them have an impact on Firefox.

Wow, you aren't alone there! I've noticed the same thing. But you know, even with all it's crashing, I still prefer it to IE. The thing I dislike about Firefox is that it doesn't support Launchcast radio (which is just plain silly).

There is a session manager add-on that you can get for Firefox, that will restore your crashed sessions when you restart. So i you had 4-5 tabs open, those pages would all be restarted. Assuming Firefox decides to restart! LOL!

Good luck.

completely uninstall firefox, restart the computer, then go to install a fresh clean copy of it. double check all the settings to make sure that they are what you want....if it continues to occur, then do send that error report or contact firefox help, in troubleshooting, there is even a message board, they get you help very quickly too.

don't allow firefox to be the default browser, too many incompatabilities with many automatic Windows features. they cause the computer to slow down too.

Yeah i get that once in a while. I Notice It happens when Firefox is trying to install a security update and is unsuccessful. Download the new version: www.mozilla.com/firefox and save it.
Uninstall the old one, restart the computer and install the new one. Laterz.

Are you sure you have the latest version? Try uninstalling FireFox and then redownloading and reinstalling it.
