It could just be Braxton-Hicks, but talk to your Dr. anyway. Real labor is concentrated in the lower abdomen, and you can time the contractions. They might be as far as 45 minutes apart at first, but you can still count on them every time. If you are feeling the pains in your ribs it could be your ribs expanding. Our bodies do some wierd things to accomidate for our growing uterus. My ribs were sore for a month with my daughter, and it was to make room for all your organs moving up as your uterus grows. Theres no way to make them feel better, you just have to deal. At least if you know that is what it is, then you can bear through it. You could also be having heartburn, so look up the symptoms for that too to rule it out. Sorry about the pain. I know how you feel though. You just have to think about that beautiful sweet baby that is all worth it in the end!

I feel for you. I was in constant pain with my oldest son. My dr said it was broad ligament pain where the uterus is growing. You could also be experiencing gas pains as well. They are very sharp and usually radiate just under the ribcage. With the slowing digestion from being pregnant, this is possible. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water and eating lots of fiber to keep things moving along. Congrats on the pregnancy and good luck!!

You should call your midwife, they will check the babies heart rate to make sure everything is fine but they sound a bit like pains i had, as you start to get bigger your rib cage has to move out to make room for the growing baby. this can give you pains in your ribs and all over really. i was also told that the baby kicking can sometimes bruise you inside causing sharp pains but deffinately go and see your midwife!

I would imagine that these pains are due to your baby pushing your ribs up out of the way and ligaments stretching in your stomach. But you should definately speak to your doc or midwife as soon as possible just to make sure.

I have three children & sounds like I had the same type of pains from about the same time & I have three healthy children. Any concerns at all you should phone your midwife (thats what she is there for) I am sure everything will be fine. Good luck for the future with your new arrival

When I had those pains, just as you described I was told they were just something some women suffered when pregnant. I would have that confirmed again if I got pregnant again (not likely!!) Back to the docs with you, though it's probably nothing. Bon chance et felicitations!

No offence love but it just sounds like trapped wind/gas to me. I know it hurts and its a very sharpe pain but its probably nothing to worry about, but if in doubt ask your doc! Better to be safe than sorry right! =]

the baby is probally kicking you there honey. it happend to me with my first one. He kicked my ribs all the time or at least it felt like it . Just rub your had down from your ribs to your belly button kinda like you are trying to push the babys foot down. Also call your doctor and tell him what you are feeling. He should be aware of what is going on, good luck and congrats .
