It is supposed to reflect the tone of the message.
If I am complaining or am asking for something I like to use:
"Respectfully,
Iggwad."
But with a friend you could use such words or phrases as,
"peace" "with you in my thoughts" "Love ya,"
Really anything that you feel would be the last thing you want them to remember.
Later Tater,
iggwad

I, personally, put "bye" and then on the next line my name, and then a fun quote, which I change every few days.
For example
Bye
-Reed
I reject your reality and replace it with my own
This can be automatically done with a signature. Go to the preferences section of your email account and choose to have a signature. It will always put the text at the end.
If you are trying to be sincere, leave out the quote.

Change it around according to the holiday of the week. I do mine in Norwegian; maybe you could try a foreign language.

Since I'm new to computers, etc., I don't know the person I'm emailing - so I always use "Cordially".

I always say "Cheers"
of couse, that's because everyone knows I drink all day long and am probably drunk at any given time.
Cheers!
