Similar to what's been done in London, there seems to be a new push to do the same for major US cities. I personally feel that this is not infringing upon our rights, as long as it is used properly and monitored closely by independent sources. Any thoughts?

I agree with surveillance cameras in public places. It does help crime. In Europe they are everywhere. Seems to be working well.

Quite a number of cities and municipalities have been doing this for years. Cameras have been used for about 30 years in some places to supplement the police by providing surveillance of areas known to have a crime problem.

Legally, I can hardly have any reasonable expectation of privacy in a public place, so there is no issue there.

Not sure why you think it could be abused and needs monitoring. Do you really have any reasonable right to privacy in public? A camera is only an impersonal but reliable witness to events, and will be admissable in a court as evidence, I suppose.

I don't have an issue with it.

One day you will be thankful that glass eye was up there on the street corner or on top of that building for catching or helping you out in a street mugging, or as an eye-witness to your murder or other accident! What's the big deal? I mean, it's not like you're gonna be making love or having sex in public...are you? Geez, are you hating because you may one day want to hold someone up or kick someone's a** under one of those things? Believe me, they're nothing more than apparatuses being used to bring justice to those who deserve it! Now, pay your taxes...

Euorpe has done it for years so it is about time the U.S. caught up to the fact that it helps.
