Yes. Mel Gibson has a public persona to worry about, and his personal life should be spotless. He had no business being a normal drunk and spewing racial slurs and badmouthing everybodys mothers.
Yes, dust off the dirt, polish him up and back up the pedestal with all the politicians he goes. All is forgiven.

Of course he should. Everyone is entitled to be forgiven for a mistake. He's doing more to earn that forgiveness than most.

Are you one of those there "non-sinners"? If you THINK that you are, you need to remember and snap out of your amnesia! There is not a person in this world that is not a sinner. You can lie to yourself about something and be a sinner. So YES, he should be forgiven, and so should you for asking such a rediculous question!

Mel in common with all Alcoholic is ill...lets just hope his sobriety lasts this time...if he didn't hurt you why should you need to forgive him....he has enough baying for his blood either stay on the sidelines quietly or support his efforts.

Why shouldn't he? If we forgive one, then we should forgive another. People screw up daily, it's part of life. Are you proud of everything you've ever said about everyone? Should you have been forgiven the times you screwed up?
People make mistakes, grown-ups move past them.

Forgiven for what? It's a free country. He spoke what was on his mind. Tough crap if anyone was offended. Move to Iraq.
