"When Bad Things Happen to Good People" is by Harold S. Kushner. Rabbi Kushner wrote this book in an attempt to deal with his son's fatal illness. Though Kushner is Jewish, the book works well for Christians, too.

"A Grief Observed" is by C.S. Lewis, author of the Narnia chronicles. Lewis converted to Christianity late in life and also married late in life. This book is simply a series of painful and honest journal entries after Lewis's wife's death as he tries to maintain his faith in the face of a tragic loss.

Both of these books are heavily religious, so if you are looking for a secular approach, perhaps they are not for you. But if you believe in God (or used to), both are excellent.

CS Lewis wrote a book called A Grief Observed. It is about his wife's death but I found it very help when coping with my father's death.

It's a book called "When bad things happen to good people". I can't remember who wrote it, but I read it after my 25 year old brother was killed in a car accident. It's a pretty powerful book. I highly recommend it. I'm sorry for your grief. Time does help though.
