I want to record a guided meditation (relaxation) cd. What would record companies find attractive in signing a contract with me? and what are the types of contracts usually made?

It depends on what type of recording you want to do.

If you want them to merely record it so that the Intellectual Rights will remain in you - then you merely pay for the recording.

If you want them to buy the Intellectual Rights from you - then a host of other things arise. They will want to know how marketable your product is? Whether you have any known popular people who will recommend your product etc. If you have any students who are at present actors or actresses who have followed your guided meditation and would recommend it - then it will be a big plus.

Do some research on what you're seeking to do since recording labels are strict about submissions and who can make them.
