First off, it's just a name that was chosen because it sounded good to play for the championship of the world.
Secondly, when it started back in 1903, the team that won the World Series was undoubtedly the best baseball team in the world. There might have been countries playing the game, but none of their teams could match those of the majors.
And for the record, the team that wins the World Series today is still, undoubtedly, the best baseball team in the world. Japan has a great baseball league, but there's no way their best club team could hang with a major league team, given that many of their best players are here while American scrubs turn into Japanese stars (eg. Tuffy Rhodes).

nicely, whilst they began it (1903), the U. S. tremendously plenty became the only place they performed baseball... and that they are able to't fairly exchange the identify 'now' merely because of the fact it incredibly is not any longer precise... In fairness, nonetheless, the gamers who're the final of the final between leagues in Japan, Latin usa, etc, come to play interior the USA. Ichiro Suzuki, for example, might 'no longer' have come to play interior the U. S. if the main effectual Leagues weren't a extra physically powerful point even than the Nippon League.

The 1904 Reach Guide reported on this first official "World's Championship Series," (played in 1903) using a name first coined in 1886 by the Spalding (of athletic equipment fame) Base Ball Guide in reference to the post-season game between Chicago and St. Louis. Spalding's editor noted that since both teams were already "champions of the United States" in their respective leagues, the winner of the post-season games would be "world" champions, hence the "World's Championship Series." Spalding's continued to refer to post-season games by this name, adding that as other nations embraced baseball, their winning teams would participate in the playoffs, turning the "World's Championship Series" into a reality.

LOL... I know what you mean.... Aside from U.S. and Canada, no other country in the world has a national baseball team.
Why? Because the real world is playing soccer or other real sports.
You baseball fans out ther might not like this, but how can baseball be a sport when some of it's players are overweight?
Have you EVER seen an overwight soccer player? Seriously, stop and think about it..

The Major Leagues have the best players in the world. The best from all of the countries that play, play here.
Let me know when France or Germany has a competitive Baseball team, we'll send over the Devil Rays so Kazmir can no-hit them.

Is America in the same world as the rest of us, if so I would like to put my sons baseball team in the championships, and they are all 11yr olds. THEY would represent the UK which is part of the world.

To tell you the truth I think it's because they think we are the best in the world, because america is very cocky. But as you can see we aren't the best just look at the United States basketball team in the olyimpics we lost to almost everyone. That is my take on it.
