OK yesterday day i got fired from a job because i refused to call person an African American. like i told my boss right before he fired me to me there is no African Americans out there we are all American. and u don't see me calling myself a German American so why should i have to call them a African Americans. and further more none of them are even from Africa the guy that had me fired was from Chicago he was an American the same as me. i think that that trem just causes a a bigger rift in us as a nation by that term because it still them rubbing the slavery issue in our face.

multi-culturalism is the view that all cultures are equal in value but they obviously are not if you use a man's life as your standard of measurement. It is an egalitarian doctrine with the sole purpose to destroy Americas culture and its government and constitution. You are under attack and do not even know it.
"A culture that values freedom, progress, reason and science, for instance, is good; one that values oppression, stagnation, mysticism, and ignorance is not."
Please read the link
"Multiculturalism holds that an individual’s identity and personal worth are determined by ethnic/racial membership—not by his own choices and actions. One cannot urge people to believe that their identity is determined by skin color and expect them to become colorblind. Observe, for instance, how college students have become racial separatists, choosing their friends based on ethnicity—and banding together to form self-segregated dormitories."

Personally, I don't think so.
I don't believe in the political corectness of "African Americans" either. What happens if a black person from the Caribbean comes to America? Are they still an African American?
As for getting fired, that one could depend on your job's policies on discrimination. I wish I could help you there, but I can't.
Just a note, though: You might have a harder time getting away with just using the term "black" just because you're white. It's a little bit easier for me because I'm a minority as well (Asian American), but I'm not quite sure.

You have some logic... but it depends on what you called them... did you call them a name that is considered appalling. I think the term African American is only used as a PC term.. because I worked with a lot of African Americans.. and the majority of them considered themselves black, or a few of them that were women called themselves "women of color" and actually I don't think the term African American was hardly used at all thinking back on it. But making sure you are PC is always the best way go if unsure about something.

Truthfully friend, it wouldn't have hurt you to call him whatever he wants to be called. If he wants to be called African American, that's what you do. If you'd like to be called German American, fine. Just call me American because my ancestors came from so many places it would take about a half-hour to list them all. I really don't think it's a firing offense but your boss is probably scared of being sued and winding up in front of some nutcake liberal judge who'll throw the book at him.

The fact is you put your boss in a delicate position. The last thing he needed was some civil rights group breathing down his neck if that other employee went running to them complaining. It's always the little issues that get blown all out of proportion.

Kinda like hearing so many say we aren't racist. Why does every form I fill out always ask what nationality are you? Why is there no blank for plain o' American? If we are not racists then whats the point of asking?

It was Kerchief's idea to create racial divides in America. He set on a John Deer tractor in Iowa and Shouted we will bury you without firing a shot.
So the cold war is over lets start going forward.

coming from a fellow german american.. i have made this point very loudly and publicly .. i would have done the same thing.. i dont belive that it is right to force us to say something a certain way. it is, in itself, a form of racism.

Your boss will likely be the demise of the company. I wouldn't work for such a micro-managing kook, IMO.

I'm with you, if people don't want different treatment as americans (I'm not saying worse, I'm saying different) then they shouldn't expect to be distiguished by a different title.
