You know what? I commend you for your courage. It is very brave to move to another state and I see that you are atleast making the effort to check things out by going to Craigslist and such. Don't listen to the bad experiences of others, because you need to be able to develop your own experience. Here's my advice. Book a brief visit to Florida, plan to stay maybe a week - you can do that cheaply by taking the greyhound down and staying with a relative or something or a cheapie motel. After the trip is booked, go on craigslist or any other job site and set up some interviews in Florida for the week you're going to visit. See how things are while your down there and get a feel if you can make it or not. I hope your interviews and job search are productive during this time. If you snag a job, wouldn't that be GREAT! Then you'll also know from the visit if you like it or not to live there. Good luck.

Where in Florida are you moving to? You can expect different things in different areas of Florida, such as the cost of living, culture, and just the standard of living in general. If you are moving to a place near the water, expect to pay a lot more than you would if you live inland. Near the coastlines, it can be difficult to purchase a home (due to the insane house pricings) unless you have some money saved up. A little more inland, it can be a little bit more affordable. San Diego and Florida are two totally different areas and you can't compare the two. Some people that come to Florida really like it and some people don't.

It depends on where in Florida you move. If you move Central down towards South, then expect a fast paced lifestyle. If you move to N Florida then expect to be like more in Georgia. Laid back and they move real slow and some places haven't quite entered into the 20th century yet (meaning they are about a century behind the rest of the world). Every place you move is going to be different and there is an adjustment period. Be open minded and try to enjoy it. If you don't like it, then you can always move again. You are very young.

just because your friend had a bad expierence doesn't mean you will! San Diego is a really expensive city, but its a great place to live. I lived there for a couple of months and loved it! you need to give it some time, its not going to be easy living anywhere new. I'm sure you will be fine, just remember why you are moving there in the first place and think positive! :)

As is the case with every place you move, you will have shady areas with high crime rate and you will have good areas with low crime rate. Do an internet check of the area that you will be moving into for sex offenders and for the crime rate.
We moved to San Antonio 10 months ago and that is what we did. After we determined where the lower crime and sex offender rate was then we bought a home in that area. We have had no incidences.

Tampa's not too bad. As long as you continue advancing in the field of medicine you can go ANYWHERE in Florida cause they need medical professionals hard core. I'd tell you where I'M moving but it's a sleepy town and I don't want to advertise. I'm leaving Fort Myers BECAUSE it's too crowded.

What city are you moving too? I live in Orlando, I like it...You really can't compare Florida and San Diego together because Florida isn't really a rich persons please, sure we have citys that are but our state isn't known for it. I think once you can tell me what part I can give you more info. Remember any place takes a while to get use to.
