They'll be great once they figure out a cost effective way to generate hydrogen. It takes more energy to produce the hydrogen than the resulting hydrogen can produce.

I think its a great concept once they figure out how to make them safe. The thing is they have to make some fail safe method so the hydrogen gass cant get released into the air, or else--boom--

Hydrogen fuel cells are the way to go, although the production cost are way too much right now.

Love the idea, but until then--Bio Deasel.

Absolute waste of money. Hard to refuel, expensive to buy, MORE expensive to repair (the tree huggers leave that part out...try to find a hydro-car mechanic any time in the next 10 years), not to mention that hydrogen is essentially an unstable gas that is super-inflammable when mixed with air (can you say Hindenburg?). I'd go on, but hopefully the point's been made. Don't waste money. If you are set on buying some eco-friendly yuppie cruiser then get a flex fuel vehicle that uses normal and E85 gas.

Terrible idea. Where do you think hydrogen comes from????water.
yeah, it comes from water but it takes a huge amount of power to convert it. You are not saving any smog, just moving it to another location. I recently read an article on alternative fuels, read it here, it is a pretty good comparason:

i think its a great idea!!!!! but i dont think the general population will give it a chance. i hear they have the engine made; they just have to find a safe way to store the hydrogen fuel. i hope it all works out.

Hyrdogen isn't super practical as a fuel. It is difficult to transport (use trucks instead of pipelines) and has to be stored at like -400 degrees.
Other than that it's a great idea.
