I took a test right before surgery and it came back negative. At that point I was only four days pregnant to early to tell. The next week I got a blood one and I am pregnant. So I was four days when I had surgery. How will that affect the baby?

Hmmm......I think everything should be fine considering that most women smoke, drink and do hard drugs before knowing they are pregnant and their babies turn out fine. Ask your ob, but Im sure everything will be alright.

Find out what meds were used in your surgery and talk to your doctor. I'm assuming you had an anesthetic. Most likely it was similar to what they give mom who have a c/s, so hopefully not a problem. You probably also had some pain killers and maybe an antibiotic. Take the names of all those drugs to your caregiver and discuss it. Also, you might get the notes from the surgery and find out from that doctor if he thinks the surgery will effect your chances at breastfeeding.

It shouldn't be an issue. If the test showed negative then the pregnancy was way to early to settle into your uterus. Which is why the test came back negative. Make regular OB appoinments and have an amniocentesis run when you get further along. But I think you and the baby will be fine.

Discuss this with your doctor, but if the baby survived the surgery (and it must have for you to have a positive blood test a week later.) I am not sure what anesthesia would do to the baby developmentally.
