Well, I'm not sure why exactly maybe something to do with muscle tone and aging but I can tell you that squats and lunges will help give your booty a lift! Not kidding, it really works. You may not get that Jennifer Lopez booty but within a few weeks of daily squats and lunges you'll notice a difference.
Good luck!

Its not that it goes flat it losses out to gravity. If you sit at a desk for a few hours and then sit at home the rest of the time then your muscles don't get a chance to flex themselves back into form.Take a few minutes at a time and just squeeze you cheek a dozen or so times during your day. Hold each squeeze for about three to five seconds and then relax a few seconds in between them. Squats and lunges build muscle , you just need tone here..... Good Luck

Some people just genetically have a flat butt. Exercises help, but you have to work with what you naturally have. Chances are, if you don't have a flat butt now, you never will.

Why? Not sure, but I would guess as we age gravity takes it's toll on our bodies.
To avoid: lunges and squats are a great place to start - there are numerous other exercises one can do
