i think he's fine to listen to (i do). not 24/7, of course.
however, know that these are only SONGS that he's writing. try no to take them so literally. now, if you were listening to things like rap, where they belittle women, worship money, are negative, curse in their lyrics, talk about drinking and drugs, etc... then i would say, DO NOT LISTEN TO IT! unless, of course, it's Christian Rap like KJ-52 or Manafest.
just my opinion.

I've been trying to figure out where Dave Matthews stands concerning the Christian faith, too. The only crappy info I could find was:
"in one song (Mother, Father) it is said:
"There's no God above
And no hell below
Oh, it's here with us
It's up to us
To keep afloat" " (source1)
Then this weird hypthesis(2) that he forsook his faith after the murder of his sister in Africa.
Wikipedia describes him as agnostic, although he was raised by Quakers. (3)
I don't know. It's been a while since I listened to his enchanting sound. I think his work with FarmAid should be considered an envy to every Christian. I appreciate the sincerity of his lyrics a LOT more than the flaky stuffed c#!p on common Christian radio.
My conclusion: give him grace to walk and work out his own faith and let us enjoy the music of his journey.
PS: Derek Webb is a born-again soulsincere folk artist you may want to check out. www.freederekwebb.com

Sure...why not? He(They) write awesome songs and lyrics. I am a Christian too. I think that it is perfectly fine. There's nothing wrong with listening to Dave Matthews. He ROCKS!!! They were one of the bands that inspired me to play guitar!

What does Christianity have to do with him? Honestly, I am unaware that he is a non-secular singer.
