Depends on whether its 55 yards square, or 55 yards long. If the latter, depends on the width. If its 55 yards square, then it will cover 1x 55 yards, or 2x27.5 yards, or 4x13.5 yards - get the idea?

the room is about 22' x 25' that's 500 square feet 55 yards of carpet is 495 square feet so it's about the size of a living room here in Houston so if you have a room 20' x 24' you should have enough carpet .

Assuming you have a 12' wide roll of carpet that is then 4 yards. If your room is 12' feet wide and 39' feet long (39' is 13 yards) then 4 times 13 is 52 yards and you would have 3 yards left over.

Is that square yards? You have to multiply the dimensions of the room to find out how many yards it will take. You could have a room 5 yards wide by 11yards long and that will be 55. But that is a pretty odd shaped and large room. Jager chik has it wrong to convert it to square feet you would multiply by 9. 9 sq ft in a square yard.

if your carpet comes in 12 foot rolls it equals 4 lineal yards wide.

so 55 sq yards divided by 4 yards = 13.75 yards

so it would cover an area 4 yards by 13.75 yards (12 feet X 41.5 feet) Maybe as much as three decent sized rooms.

thats without patching by the way..less rooms if the rooms are wider than 12 foot wide.
