Hey, I am trying to buy a Rambus non ecc PC800 memory from ebay. The one I have on my motherboard is (2X256MB)Rambus Non-ECC PC800-40 and the ones on sale on ebay are Rambus Non-ECC PC800-45 (2X256MB) so I am wondering if those two could be combined together to make (4X256MB) 1 GB memory. Can PC800-40 and PC800-45 work together??

Thanks

I believe the 40 and 45 refer to latency, so I believe they should work together, but the 45 might slow the 40 down a bit. I would buy 40 if at all possible, but if you must get the 45 it should work.

And to the guy that said go to crucial.com, while that is a fine website I am sick of everybody just throwing it out everytime they see a RAM question, that sight doesn't even have RDRAM on it so it would be completely useless to this question.

Two 40s and two 45s will probably work together but put them in two blocks
take out your 40s out and install the two45s in there place, boot up if OK shut down and add your two 40s in the existing ram slots boot up and watch your ram count on boot screens.
