Is it at all possible to retrieve messages from a messenger service?

Is it at all possible to retrieve messages from a messenger service such as yahoo or aol from the hardrive after the computer has been formatted? and if so where can i download the softwear to do this . I have lost a number of important addresses and and telephone numbers and there dont seem any way to get them back . Id be very greatful if anyone can help me this is the last resort .

They are not stored anywhere else and it is unlikely that you'd be able to get the data retrieved from your computer even if you contact disk recovery specialists.
