Too lazy? Habituated to a motor car? Can't balance? Too dangerous? Too many hills? Climate not conducive? Nowhere to store the bike? Keep on breaking down? Not practical? Never even considered this ancient mode of transport?

State whereabouts you live please.

I do,

Not lazy I ain't Lance Armstrong but I could do over 60+ miles a week using my bicycle.
Prefer it to driving.
Balance is no problem once you keep moving.
Its the roads are dangerous not the rider.
Hills? I look for mountains to cycle up.
Climate wise its ok once you wear the relevant gear.
Bicycle is stored in my bike shed.
Breaking downs are few if you keep the bike maintained and carry a repair kit.
Its very practical.
I wouldn't even consider swopping my bicycle for the NASA space shuttle.

Live in Ireland between hills and mountains.

Thank you for asking.

I do use my Bicycle to get around. Well mainly because my "motor vehicle" is in the states and I am in England. But anything within 40 miles of starting point I do use my bike to get to, unless I am carrying a huge package. I reckon I will keep this up for the most part when I do move back Stateside.

I live in California, specifically the Bay area. Riding a bike to get around for me is not practical. I commute 30 miles to work, besides the fact i have 11 month old twins to haul around as well. Maybe if I was single, no kids and lived close to my job I would do it. I think that it would be better for those that can ride to get around to do it more often, but it just wouldnt work for me.

I work 65 miles away from home. A bicycle would be terribly ineffective to get around on. However I often ride my bike with my family when I do get home. We will go out for 30 minutes a night. State Utah

I live near myrtle beach south carolina I would ride a bike but its not that practical. If everything was closer in proximity I would def ride a bike. Plus you dont have to worry about bikes polluting the air and you dont have to worry aobut gas prices. People in Europe ride bikes for transportation. I knew some people in Holland and they said they rode bikes.

I work 25 miles from home, so thats impossible, I also live in Michigan, so its not possible in the winter. I do ride my bike to the park, for entertainment.... But I do not ride a bike to get around... it takes too much time to get places on a bike... It would be nice to be able to ride a bike more often.

A couple of reasons for me. I HAVE to take the freeway to get myself to work and bikes aren't allowed on them. Also, I am an executive and wouldn't be able to dress the way that I would while riding a bike, in addition to being all sweaty by the time I got to work.

I would if there was a bike path near my house that went to my work. I don't like sharing the street with car with drivers talking on cell phones. I used to work with a guy who got hit by a truck while riding his bike, and another who died when a car hit him. I will only ride on bike paths.

We live in california, In Monterey Bay. we do! except for big grocery shopping trips, or in the rain, or traveling hours away. My husband works for a company that sells bike lights- so he gets a bonus for riding to work- but he would anyway, he always has. I do with our almost 2 year old, he loves it, and he already has a bike too, except he cant use it yet. but when he can reach the petals he defenitly will be riding with us.

Because I live in NY. Although, I'm in an outer borough it hardly matters when it comes to traffic. Drivers barely make allowances for each other and pedestrians never-mind cyclists. Greenways are not connected so if you find a place to ride, you'll end up having to cross a highway or something sooner or later
