souped up hair driers, i mean scooters, they make such a noise zooming up and down, it drowns out the tv and conversation,you can hear them from one end of the road to the other

If its the same person on the same bike you can report them to the council as a noise disturbance and if it goes the whole way you can get them slapped with an ASBO but it has to be the same person. Or put nails on the road but I didn't say that ;-)

If they are breaking the law in someway then you should call the police and file a complaint. If they are not then you will have to live with it,Maybe you bought a house that is too close to the road and should have thought about traffic noise before you moved there.

Try tying a fishing line between two lamp posts at handle bar level, or finding out where they live and pouring water in the petrol tank?
