I am just curious to know who long it took some of you to walk around or resume normal activity after vaginal births or even c-sections.

After both of my vaginal births I was walking around the same day. I was in the hosp for 24 hrs and walked out of there and even went to walmart afterwards to get formula and walked around in there. Just don't get ahead of yourself and overdo it like I did, b/c it can make you sick. Do as little as possible while you still have people wanting to help you!!! It will be the only time you can get away with laying around on the couch!

I was walking immediately after giving birth. I had no complications at all. I had vaginal deliveries every time. I was able to resume normal activities soon after that. Check with your doctor. Also trust your body to know when it is ok to resume your activities.

I had a vaginal birth via inducing. It was difficult for me to walk around for about 24 hours, if anything because I was so weak. I needed help getting in and out of the bed the entire time I was in the hospital (about 2 days) and I needed help getting up and down off the toilet for about 4 days. Then, once I was able to at least do it myself, I needed to support myself getting in and out of the tub, off the toilet, out of the bed, out of a chair, etc. for about a week and a half.

I was able to resume normal activity after about 2 weeks (bending easily, sitting, getting in a tub, etc.) with no problems.

I had a vaginal at midnight and was walking when I woke up the next morning...slowly. I was back to normal activity in about a week (yet I still didn't do any strenuous things like lifting or running).

Vag birth, 8 hour labor, 18 minutes of pushing (seriously), 11 stitches (I tore naturally...probably b/c I pushed like a mo-fo...I wanted it OVER)
Was walking the day I gave birth.
Went grocery shopping the day we came home (2 days later).
Walked two miles to an air show on her 1-week birthday.
I think I got lucky.
Going to the bathroon HURT. That was the most painful part of anything (I

I gave a vaginal birth. I aslo had an epidural. Right after my epidural wore off I slowely with help stumbled to the bathroom. I had to pee. Then about 3 hours later I went again. and again and again about every three hours. After the first night you can walk easily, but it takes a little relaxation to actually pee. At first it hurts, but if you gently run warm water on yourself after to wash yourself off, then it is great. Walking came pritty natural afterward. Just as soon as I gained motor control over my legs again.

I had my daughter at 1:15 in the morning. I am pretty sure I was able to get up and walk to the bathroom by 8 am and then I think I took a shower by myself that same morning. I was walking down to the nursery to get my baby that afternoon.

I was up walking around almost immediately after all three of my unmedicated births.

You do want to be careful about overdoing it in the early weeks as it could make it take longer for your lochia to stop and for you to heal. Not too much in the way of lifting or going up and down stairs until your bleeding has slowed/stopped.
