I guess they consider it like the back of their couches where they usually put fancy pillows.
People treat their cars like their homes. So if they live in a tarpaper shack, their car will look like a dump as well.If they keep a neat house with nic naks and pillows and stuffed toy animals, then so will their cars.

Old people need cushions because of the loss of muscle mass that happens with age. They're bony and it puts too much pressure on the skin.

Kinda funny. Old folks, (ya know, older than me), tend to not have as much muscle to cushion their behind. The pelvis bone causes pain on the butt. So the cushion prevents a sore butt.

I actually was wondering this myself just yesterday. I followed an old couple through town....they were in a HUGE caddy with numerous throw pillows in the back window! WTF! Are they that old they have to take a nap on the way to the grocery store? Their back window looked like my grandma's couch!

its a law in this country. I thought everyone knew that. You get them sent to you from DMV when you hit a certain age. My grandmother just got hers.

So why does this bother you? Are they insisting that you use one? Is it any of your business? Does it matter if they need them for health reasons? Are you having a bad day and need to pick on someone?
