Mongooses are social animals and like to live in groups with their family sisters and aunts. They are natural born diggers and require huge areas to dig and build dens for the young and shelter for the old.

Keeping a mongoose in a cage, by itself is bound to cause frustration and other types of anti-social behavior towards its human handlers.

In short, I don't think that this would be productive for you or your mongoose.

Good Luck and Take Care

I would advise against that idea.

Mongoose are one of the main carriers of rabies. My friend was at a friend who had a mongoose and it bit him and he had to go for the rabies vaccine as recommended by the professor of veterinary science at Ondesterpoort, South Africa.

Get a rabbit or a hamster instead.

Not a good idea, and probably illegal in most states. They haven't been specifically bred to be pets.

If your state allows, you might try getting a pet ferret instead.
