hi daisy!
i, myself, am not thrilled with tattoos UNLESS it's a memorial or to honor the living, as you will be doing. i think this is the coolest idea ever.
if i were you i would scan it on a scanner instead of just taking a photocopy because some parts of the foot will show lighter and you would want that on your tattoo so it looks real. a photo copy will not show the lighter and darker areas as well as a scanned copy.
just out of curiosity, why not ink the baby's foot and put it the exact place you want on your body and go to the tattoo parlor and do it that way? why take a photocopy and put it on your body when you can tell little Suzy or little bobby you actually stamped their foot and they did the tattoo on top? then it'd be their actual footprint and not a copy of it. I'm not a tattoo artist but I'm sure that can be done. call the place before you go to make sure it can be done and how to do it. also, you may want to pick a part of your body that has room since you may have more than one child later and would want to honor other children the same way as how you want to honor your baby now.
good luck and it's a great idea of the foot tattoo!

Have the nurse in the delivery room take an extra foot print -- tell her why you want it, she/he shouldn't object to doing it. The tattoo parlor will make a copy of the footprint that can be transferred onto your skin. Kinda like the pictures in a coloring book before they're colored. I think this idea is so awesome!!!!! Wish I had thought of it when my son was born 29 years ago. 8-)

All you will need for a good artist is a copy of your baby's footprint. That is a great idea by the way!!!

I'm pretty sure they can either photocopy or trace it onto tracing paper first and THEN make the decal that they stick onto your skin. (They then tattoo using the decal as a guide...I watch Miami ink lol!)
That's the coolest idea for a tattoo I've ever heard!!
Good luck!

They usually do the footprints on a separate piece of paper. The tattoo shop should be able to work with a photocopy. They put the picture you want on a light table and trace it onto tracing paper.

That is so cute. Wouldn't a hand print be cuter though? You will need to take the baby along so that they can trace it or take a picture from which to design it. I'd still go with the hand print though. Maybe add your's holding the babies hand.

Your best bet concerning that would be to contact 1 or more local tattoo parlors. Ask them if they have in fact done something similar. If not, ask their advice and/or opinions, considering the yare the ones who would be executing this!

They put the foot prints on the birth certificate and on file to identify the baby in case of a mix up.
