It instruments an extremely undesirable occasion that Zidane is nominated as a FIFA participant of the 365 days after ending his occupation with a pink card for headbutting Materazzi. i think of the only reason he became nominated is using his retirement. He became an extremely proficient soccer participant, are not getting me incorrect, yet his very final moments on the sphere weren't crammed with glory.

You can get the information in the Official FIFA site:

Having nominated Zidane for FIFA World Player of the Year is another shameful thing the big joker S. Blatter and the other clown M. Platini are doing.
After years and years of political corruption and shameful presence in the FIFA organization, Blatter & Co. have reached their best this year with thwo pearls in the World Cup: their absence in the closing cerimony (first time ever) and the sentence to Materazzi (first time ever).
Now their climax: Zidane nomination in the FIFA World Player of the Year!!!! WHAT A JOKE!!!!

This is obvious for a few reasons.
1. He took France far in the World Cup
2. His return to International football, was pivotal in helping France once again, return their place among the best nations.
3. There is a lot of sentimentality on his retirement. His contribution to football over the past decade has been enormous. It is fair to say that he has no peer or equal, over the last 10 years.
4. Despite his age, he remained an excellent player, although his consistency dropped a bit, especially at Real Madrid. Only a handful of players like Henry, Ronaldinho, Shevchenko or maybe Kaka, can say they played better on average than Zidane, over the past year.
5. His winning the MVP at the World Cup, makes an automatic choice for this award.
Although my take is that Cannavaro played slightly better than him in the World Cup, Zidane had a greater influence in the French side's progress to the Final, compared to Cannavaro's influence in Italy winning the trophy.
Excluding Internationals, Henry and Ronaldinho have been consistent and outstanding for their clubs. They too will have a shout for this award.
But I think it will boil down to Cannavaro and Zizou for the award. Quite hard to pick the winner now, as this is decided by about 180 captains and managers, of each national team worldwide.
Perhaps when the final 3 are shortlisted, and certain coaches' opinions posted, we might know who is the outright favourite.

This is the most RETARDED thing I have ever heard. Zidane was and is a world class soccer player however, the incident with that big head of his in the world cup final should be indicative enough to NOT nominate him as FIFA Player of the year. That would set a dangerous precedent. It would be like telling kids that "hey as long as you are a super star you can do whatever you want and get a way with it...." That so called punishment he got from FIFA was a bunch of bull crap as well.

FIFA World Player of the Year
FIFA has unveiled its much-coveted title - FIFA World Player of the Year. BUFFON, CANNAVARO, GATTUSO, NESTA, PIRLO are the five representatives on its 30-man shortlist for the award.
Media speculation is that this year's competition is expected to come down to a contest between FABIO CANNAVARO, captain of World Cup winners Italy, and Arsenal's French striker Thierry Henry, a losing finalist in both the Champions League and the World Cup.
"Could the forward players' domination be brought to an end this year?" - this is the question appeared in FIFA's official annoucement.
