i am a convicted felon approx. 40 years ago and was told i could use a musket to hunt with in maine, I would like to know for sure if this is true or not.

A musket is defined by the ATF as a "primitive weapon" and is therefore not regulated under Federal Firearms regulations - which means that anyone can have one (Assuming by "musket" you mean any kind of blackpowder rifle).

I don't work for the ATF and I'm not a lawyer, so you should speak to one of those two first before making any purchases.

I believe you can own a single shot musket... I believe the law says ANY felon can own a single shot musket.
