Because some guys have no self control they try to control others. Girls are physically smaller and not as muscular as other guys so they make an easy target for this abuse. A bully (and guys like this are bullies) will only pick on or abuse someone that is too small to fight back.
This is why some guys are mean to some girls. Have you ever noticed some girls don't get picked on? Those girls wont put up with the crap. You shouldn't either.

Because, from personal experience, being a nice guy doesn't get you anywhere. Not that I'm mean at all because I'm not like that but the nice approach has got me absolutely nowhere.
