There are "askers" on here that cannot break out of the political/government questions. That is, the limit of their mental capacity is almost exclusively this due to some type of obsessive compulsion on their part. All one has to do is click on the "askers" avatar, click on questions asked/answered to see the variety in their mental strength. Furthermore, some are so mentally incapacitatied that their avatar or screen name is political.

Lack of intellect?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder?
Forgot to take their medications?
Attempting to make up for social inadequacies?
Incapable of processing personal emotions effectively?
Disgruntled?

What do you think their problem is, and do you think they will ever be able to expand their gandra? Are they simply incapable of delivering anything beyond low-brow political commentary and assaults?

Bottom line, assaulting others on this or any other board only strengthens your opponent's resolve.Try respecful intellectual pursuasion folks

brian2006: Actuallly, I'm very conservative. Not even close to liberal. My statement holds true to both sides. There is no political statement here promoting any party. Try re-reading....this time, a mature response...if you're capable.

Thomas A: If you actually read what I wrote, I clearly state that the issue is with people that can't "do" anything BUT political issues. Occassionally commenting on them is fine and a normal use of discourse. If you would actually look at my past posts, you would see that I am "practicing what I am preaching"....your words, not mine.

rukidding: See response to Thomas above. I hold true to my comments. True intellect is not demonstrated by one issue or topic.

Thomas E: Indeed! Imagine the possibilities if this board was used constructively. We could cross border on all fronts and explore much. It is sorrowful that it's been hijacked.

I'm relatively new here, and I've never bothered to take the time to investigate a poster's history. It's immaterial to me what singleminded issue a poster pursues, and why should you care either? If it resonates with you, respond; if not, don't. Frankly, 99% of the questions posted here are of no interest to me.

What baffles me, though, is the amount of venom on this BBS. I've been around the block once or twice and would not have thought of myself as naive, but I never in my most paranoid moods imagined the degree of hatred I see here. Granted, the anonymity of a BBS gives posters license to vent, but still...still...so many damaged people.... Initially I responded to some of these posts, thinking to engage in a dialog, but it's clear these are closed minds, many of them with only one string to their bow. It's tragic, though, that so many disturbed people hate so passionately. No wonder there are school shootings; the wonder is that there aren't more of them. Meanwhile state governments are cutting back on mental health services. Go figure.

Sorry, guess I've engaged in my own rant. My point is, ignore the moronic and the strident and the shallow, and follow your interests. And hey, how about a little humor? Lighten up! All this stuff belongs in the "life's too short" category!

Robert,

I'm a conservative. I think most of the discourse on this site revolves around the Bush haters trying to vent. They are upset because America doesn't share their views. All it takes is listening to Howard Dean or Nancy Pelosi for two minutes to realize that they are way out of step with the mainstream. My God, these cretins can't even give you a straight answer. Ask a liberal to give any sort of reasonable plan to deal with the war on terror, North Korea, Iran or anything else, they just start in with Bush Lied. They haven't figured out the American people are not stupid. The economy is booming. Taxes are down. The price of gas is coming down. There is alot of very good news, but to listen to a liberal, is a little like hearing chicken little, the sky is falling. If the democrats can't win back either the House or the Senate in November, they never will again. They can trot out all the sex scandals they want. It strikes me funny that the patriarch of the Democratic Party (Ted Kennedy) who is still famous for that night long ago when he killed Mary Jo Kopeckne and saved himself, would even have the stones to speak on this matter. Talk about a hypocrite. Personally, I'm looking forward to November, the Republicans will maintain control of both houses, and the Dem's will cry foul again. As they have for so long, and will continue to do for the foreseeable future.

I try to be as DISPASSIONATE as possible in responding, even though I have pretty clear views. Sometimes I get caught up in the partisanship, but more often than not I will ignore the diatribes disguised as questions.

I spend a lot of time in the politics and government forum, but there are lots of other interesting questions here too, which I enjoy. I like when I can help someone out, or when a question makes me remember a happy event or a great story.

This is an election year, There is nothing wrong with using YA as a forum and as a place to spur political debate.

The collective intellect in Yahoo answers is generally low.

To spend time in the other categories is a complete bore!

It's an open forum and some people might LIKE to only respond to political questions. This is no way reflects upon the persons intellect or interests. You cant sum up people by what questions they ask on a message board.

As for your "statement" since it was not much of a question, you are one of those people attacking others on Yahoo answers.

Cheers

Perhaps it's none of the negative possibilities you suggest, but just an honest interest. That would not be "their problem" would it?
I agree with your feeling that many partisan questions and answers lack the normal respect due to everybody, even if his/her views aren't shared by you.

Thank you for stating the obvious to those who use their minds. Sadly it must be said. Indeed, many answers seem to be quite too simple and unrelated to the question asked. Such a forum as this should be used for actual debate and discussion. I am sure this was its intended use.

alot of comments back and forth here on this question. in all of that ,what i read was basically someone who sticks to ONE subject every time he or she asks questions,,,that's the only subject they talk about.right? well maybe that's all they're interested in and the only subject they know about.if you go into 'polls and surveys'',you'll see askers with ID,,''bacon''and he only asks questions about BACON !! same with the ''cookie'' asker,,,,nothing but cookie questions and the avatar IS a cookie!!..when i look for questions to answer i bypass these sometimes and go for the more 'normal' questions,,,i guess to each its own,,,,

I think in the 2004 campaign, where Bush constantly bashed
Senator Kerry on Vietnam, he gave leave-way for 'hate' to
be the 'in' thing to do.
I don't get it. Maybe it is a paid thing, or they're just kids, or
have other serious problems.
I really don't think it's the American way for people to be
bashing other human beings.
It's sad.

Did it ever occur to you that they may be into politics? You've got a problem with that? Interestingly, here you are, asking a question in politics and insulting others. And you have other political questions on here, too. Seems to me you should practice what you preach and get down from you high horse of superiority. You're the only one who thinks you're superior here.
