You may have to explain your question. I think the last "new genre" of music in the past few decades is hip-hop, and even that, arguably, is an offshoot of funk, which is an offshoot of rock, which is an offshoot of the blues. I guess the other genres are dance offshoots (house, trance, trip-hop, jungle, drum-n-bass, etc.). Are those genres or sub-genres?

It's sort of like appropriating random items or media stuff and creating new works of art (collage). I like it though, because it's sort of like collaged music, it's cool, some of the new bands take some of the best stuff of the last hundred and fifty years and recreate it into something really cool and new. And I REALLY like that all music is being listened to by the younger gen. rather than just new stuff, because most of the younger generation is actually interested in knowing about the history of the music they're into which is very awesome because art with history has serious anima. did you want to know all of that? sorry, I tend to ramble.
