The Tigers now?
All season long I have been overly cautious and optermistic.
They beat the yankees, and I couldn't believe it.

With last night's win (and they way they won. Gomez with 4RBI), it's time to take all that pent up caution and joyous excitement to the streets!

Repeat after me:

"I BELIEVE!"

Praise Jim Leyland and pass the World Series rings to Detroit!

Believe It! It's Lima Time!!!!

I've been in the same boat as you all season. Being a 28 year old living about half an hour from Comerica Park, I vaguely remember anything about 84 (I recall the name Willie Hernandez and that's about it) and I distinctively recall '87, the one game playoff against Toronto, Trammell getting jobbed for the AL MVP by George Bell and Minnesota hammering us in 5 games with Pat Sheridan hitting a homerun in the one game we won.

Since then it has been drudgingly painful to watch the Tigers. While Big Daddy Cecil Fielder gave us some entertainement in the early 90's, we have had the likes of Travis Fryman, Matt Anderson, Justin Thompson, Milt Cuyler, and so many other could-have-beens but-never-were's to cycle through town, I was cynical for the first month or so, but there was a come-from-behind victory over KC back in May or June that I KNEW they were going to comeback and win. No doubt whatsoever.

Much like the White Sox last season with their late season swoon and turnaround in the playoffs, the Tigs are destined for greatness.

FYI: You heard it here first, the Tigers just finished game 5 of an 11 game winning streak.

I pinch myself every morning hoping that its real! Have been since April actually, i have been worried about the wheels falling off, and they did while Polanco was hurt, but guess who's back and batting better than .400 in the postseason!!!!

I had hopes like this at the begining of last year, and injuries plagued my Tigers.

Not this year, I hope they stay hungry. Pitching is great and that my friends is what wins championships.

I was at game 4 at Comerica Park last Saturday when they beat the Yankees to clinch the division series! Insane bright orange rally towels everywhere!!!!

I BELIEVE, I BELIEVE, Oh GOD, I BELIEVE this is finally their year. It hurts that we had to can Trammell, but Leyland is obvioulsy the savior of Detroit.

Why can the Piston's not catch any respect and now neither can the Tigers? Screw it we will just keep it up!

These people on here *puleeze* - for all you non-believers in the Tigers.. it's as simple as this - If you'd have watched any of the games this season, seen what this team is all about - and I do stress *team* because there are no egotists, bullshi**ers, or babies in this club. These are all guys that are the shining example of what a team should be. They play with their heart and souls, never forgetting their fans - what a fantastic display of the Tigers coming back out on the field after their win against the Yankees, to celebrate with the fans! You just don't see that with other teams. Bottom line, don't hate on us Tigers fans, and we won't hate on you - because we know you'll eventually give in and join our bandwagon anyway.

as a baseball fan you should know by now nothing is a lock untill the final out is made, anyone remember that game a few years back where the indians got 17 or 19 runs to come back and win? Or how about the biggest choke in sports history aka the red sox/yankees 2003 ALCS?.....you should just keep praying for the next 2 wins because there's a possible 5 more games and the A's aren't out of it.

All the people that doubt Detroit are judging them simply by past seasons. We have beat the best, to be the best. and as you said "I BELIEVE!".

I have believed in them all year. It's that Detroit Blue Collar attitude, there's struggles, but we overcame them. We had the best record in the league for 160 something days and if you don't believe in the Tigers now, its because you are a rival, or you are jealous. PLAIN AND SIMPLE!

As far as who wins the NLCS I like both teams, and I think the Mets will play in the series and the Mets will win.

The Tigers won't be able to beat the Mets. The Tigers still suck. They found a way to choke at the end of the regular season and they will choke again.

I do!

The American League is the tougher of the two. The NL is really more like quadruple-A. The Mets have lost too much pitching, and the Cards have the LaRussa factor working against them.

Tigers over the A's in 5.
Tigers over the Mets in 6 or over the Cards in 5.

Im a Red Sox fan but you have to love the Tigers this year... the team is a bunch of young kids just dominating... that pitching staff is amazing... they wont be beaten this year and maybe next... Zumaya is probably my favorite pitcher ever (104 MPH!) not named Nolan Ryan... he and Verlander will be studs in the MLB for a looooong time

Georgie, I am happy that you have admitted that you will still be happy with how far the Tigers have come, but they will not win 6 more games this year, or 5, maybe 4, probably 3.

Mets will win it all.
