Now that he is older I was wondering if I could switch him to the Enfimal brand of formula that has the rice cereal in it? Please don't ask me to see his doctor, because I'm currently looking for a new one. I have switched his formula many times, so I know what can happen. He is currently on the Enfimal Gentle Ease. My son is also five months old.

Yeah you already know what happens when you switch brands but cereal is basically the same thing. There's no problem with giving your child a different brand you won't know what happens until you try it. And at that age it definitely will be OK to give them cereal.

Sincerely yours,
Laurie

I have never heard of any formula having rice cereal in it. If you want to start your son on cereal why dont you use the formula that is working now and add rice cereal in? I would you dont want him to get gassy again. hope you have luck finding a new doctor. best wishes

Your son could have an intolerance to wheat, a rice or soy based formula would be better, breast-feeding would be best. For infor on wheat gluten intolerance go to Celiac.com. Gluten intolerance can cause gas, bloating, diarrhea, vomiting, and a lifelong host of problems that could eventually cause intestinal cancer. Approximately 1 in 133 people in the U.S. is wheat intolerant but most don't know it.
