I'm looking for a good sampler of Middle Eastern music on cd. You know, sitar and that type of thing. I find that music haunting, but I don't know what to buy. Anybody have a recommendation?

Dead Can Dance use a lot of different instruments sounding Middle Eastern-ish, and vocalist Lisa Gerrard has a hauntingly beautiful voice. There are several tracks on Spritchaser, Into the Labyrinth, and Toward the Within you might like.

Sorry, after 9/11 I do not like anything about the Middle-East. And BTW Sitar is associated with music from India, not the Middle East. If you like sitar music look for CDs under Ravi Shankar. All his Cds are brilliant.
