If you like Harry Potter you'll love King Fortis the Brave - about a pair of twins pulled into a magical world where they end up caught up in a battle for control of the land. Full of adventure and humor it helped me get through the time between books five and six.

A Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey. It's been republished again. This mystery is so good that it ranks #6 on the list of 100 best mysteries of all time published by the Mystery Writers of America.

If you want an ebook, one of those at www.fictionwise.com with a young hero is Search for the Sun by Ellen Anthony. It's the 2001 Eppie Award winner for Best Mystery.

Its about a small town that has been converted into a superior race, but things have gone way wrong. Its a really good book, one that is hard to put down.

You should read "Shogun", if you haven't read it yet. It's quite big, 2 volumes.. 1000+ pages :-)
It's about a sailor that lands in Japan and..learns and lives there.
I haven't read it all, only the first volume, but I can tell you that it's one my favourites.
