Yes you can. As long as there are both SATA and IDE plugs on the motherboard, you're fine
On my PC, it allows me to have 2 IDE & 4 SATA ports. They'll work fine alongside each other

Yes you can, if of course your motherboard supports SATA drives.
SATA drives are supposed to have faster data throughput but I find this difficult to believe.
Hard drive manufactures just stick a different interface on the front end of the hard drive, in addition data is sent to SATA drives in serial mode whereas the the more common IDE/ATA data is sent in parallel mode.

If your motherboard supports both disk types, you can use both. Just make sure you load the sata drivers during o/s install if you plan on booting from the sata drive.

yes , each hard drive is seperate and no interference with each other. its exactly the same as attaching a flash drive to a pc except a flash is portable. the only differnce is company brand and type of hard drve. a 200 gig drive to another is exactly the same as it does the same job albeit at different speeds depending on quality

i wish- just bought a new hard drive THEN found out about ATA and SATA :(
your mobo might have more sockets than mine- hopefully you won't breakdown in tears like i did lol
