Pick up a copy of The Ultimate Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks (Mel Brooks' son). You will not be disappointed, I promise! (And if you are, I will buy it back from at full cost).

If you live in a two story house, stock all your supplies on the second floor, move up there, and destroy the staircase. If you don't have a second floor, move up into the attic. If you don't have that, go to the roof. If you have a stilted house, you can pretty much ignore those rules. Just get rid of the stairs and you're good. Tornado-proof houses are also good. They are designed to withstand mild to moderate twisters, so they can easily hold off 20 to 50 zombies.

Apartment buildings are great places to live in while surviving a zombie attack.
Everyone on the first floor move up, destroy the staircase, disable the elevator.
Another advantage is the larger population. There are more people to defend the building. Of course there are possible social conflicts, but the advantages are greater than the disadvantages.

Some places to avoid: Hospitals, Police Stations, Malls.

Hospitals are bad because anyone bitten will most likely go there. (You have to remember, most people are unable to accept a zombie attack as reality) In most cases, hospitals are where zombie outbreaks start! Avoid police stations not because of zombies, but other humans. Once again, there will be flocks of people going to the local P.D., creating a nexus of chaos. Malls avoid because of humans again. People trying to get their hands on as much food as possible, you're likely to get shot for the can of beans you're holding.

I love Zombie movies, they are the ultimate greatest.
I have alot of zombie dreams, in my dreams the zombies can not climb stairs. So I find an extremly tall building thats about 5 stories high. I block off the main doors down stairs and the first floor all together. After thats blocked off, I block off the second floor. I make sure everything I need is on the top floor of the building. In my dream everything goes great for about 3 months and then suddenly the zombies start to get smarter and learn to climb the stairs. Thats usually where my dream ends.
The cold climate idea would work, if you dont get eaten getting there first.... lol.

I would say an island like day of the dead. If you can't get to a boat maybe a roof will do. But as I see it the real problem is not getting away, its having enough food and water in whatever place you might be hiding. Realistically zombies should eventually disintegrate into nothingness, if the body is really dead it would have to decompose at some point.

Convenience store. It's full of food (processed food that wont expire!) and they probably have a weapon of some sort stashed in there for protection in case of a robbery. Plus most of them have large glass doors, so you could see the zombies coming.

I'd just blame Canada until the problem went away. =)

Seriously, I have GOT to build that secret room in my house. It gets closer to Zombi-geddon every day, and I'm going to need it!

Wal-Mart, without a doubt. Christmas decorations are already out, zombies are not interested in that stuff yet!

I would say a hill. That way you could shot them in the head from a safe distance. AND EVERYONE KNOWS if you shot them in the head they die instantly. I would say like a Military fort on a hill like Fort Morgan in Gulf Shores Ala.
