Are your fiancees parents older? This can be a factor. I don't think it would be likely that you would have to worry unless you wait til you are in your 40's to have kids. Although it can happen in younger mothers but VERY rare and unlikely.

Not necessarily, it all depends on the DNA. However, it is caused by abnormality of the chromosome and most those who are born with it, comes from a majority of mothers over 40 years old. Due to the age of the eggs and the women. Which is why it is such a risk for mother who want to have a baby after 40. A women eggs system is quite complex to explain because I am not a doctor or a women, but do have a little understanding of it and what can cause many different things to a new born, like drinking alcohol, and smoking during pregnancy for example. Which is a big NO, NO.

Considering you are not in the gene pool over there, I wouldn't worry about it. Women are the ones that pass on down syndrome and the older the woman the higher the risk.

I dont not believe that downs syndrome is hereditory condition. My cousin has it and no one in his mothers or fathers family has the condition.

Down's syndrome occurs in older women who give the child an extra sex chromosome. It is not hereditary.

The possibility your children will have it is more likely to be influenced by your age and your husband's age. Don't wait 'til you're in your late thirties to have kids.
