I'm very passionate about the history and culture of ancient Japan and i'm curious, what could i do with such specialized knowledge besides being a professor or even a historian?

Author books based on Japanese culture? Or if you're not that great at writing, you could do reference work for people that are. Maybe some type of diplomatic position or aid?

Henry Kissinger made it to chief advisor of the President - he wrote a paper on Metternich and Real Politic which brought him to the attention of the politicos. Politics? Or possibly use your knowledge and insights to write a better-researched historical fiction book about "the way it should have been"?

Teach ESL to Japanese. Possibly work as an ambassador or within an ambassdor's office.
