Well since we passed so many laws to protect minorities and their education.......I think it's fair to say that a black child could grow up to be a doctor just as a white child could.

However, I still think more needs to be done in inner city schools. I still feel that those children fall through the cracks. But in order for that to change their whole environment will have to change. BUT I believe the American dream still is alive and kicking. If you want it bad enough you could pull yourself to College even from the Ghetto. It's harder of course and not everyone will make it (just as a lot of white rural kids don't make for some of the same reasons) but it could and DOES happen.

Well there should be no racism in the application process if you are US citizen, If anything if you are a minority there are certain advantages to the application process.

However, if you are not US citizen and not Permanent resident there are many barriers but I would not consider these not to be racist just strict immigration policies
1. F-1 visa, they have really cracked down on this since 9/11
2. TOEFL - if you don't speak english

Also many schools at graduate and professional level medical Schools for example have instituted policies where to attend graduate school esp. PHd or medical school you must have at least 100 hours of credit in US - bachelors degree and permanent residence

if you're still being hindered by prejudice you need to get some thicker skin. Will Smith said if someone wouldn't let him in a restaurant because of his skin color he'd buy the place and fire the guy. this is not 1900 guy

Look the word up. Stop thinking or rather 'feeling" in terms of mindless slogans the stupid masses are taught to parrot. The word is too general for your question to be answered. you have a false perception of that word. No doubt the same for words like - discrimination, judge, generalize, stereotype, & racism.

If you are rich, or your family is rich, you get to go to Yale and even get a degree without studying. And you can be president too.
