We've gone through cereals, veggies and fruits, now we're onto the meat...and he took one bite out of it and gagged a few times, so let's say that was the end of that..and wouldn't eat his veggies because he thought I was trying meat again. It is soo disgusting....even when I tested the temp. on my lips I almost gagged too. Do any of you wonderful mother's out there have any suggestions on how to make this process a yummy one for him ?

Do not start with the beef. Start with chicken or turkey. They don't have such a strong taste. I made this mistake with my first son and he gagged as well. My second son gobbled the chicken right up. His favorite is the turkey rice dinner. Good luck

I had the same problem with my son (i swear it was the only thing he has ever spit out lol). I wanted him to like the taste of meat by itself when he got older, so I chose not to mix it with fruits and veggies. Instead I mixed a half jar with a lot of cereal (about 3 or four tablespoons) and added formula to thin it (if your breastfeeding use that instead) to dilute the taste because it's sooo strong. Over the course of time I lessened the amount of cereal and formula until he was eventually eating the meat by itself.
I also offered the meat first at meals, then the veggie, then the fruit, because if I offered the fruit or veggie first he wouldn't touch the meat.
If you choose to mix it with fruit of veggies don't use the combo meals, my doctor told me that they aren't as nutritious.
He will probably refuse the meat after a bite or two even after it's diluted, but just keep offering it and he will get used to it.
Good luck and I hope I helped.

I know some people will say not to give them whole meat, but that is what I used with both of mine and will do the same with the one to come. Do not use any seasoning on the meat you may cook for yourself. Chop it real fine, or put it in the food processor with a little water. It also depends on how many teeth your child has. Good Luck

Were you feeding him the meat in the jar??. It is disgusting. Try making some plain skinless chicken breast or something healthy like that without a lot of seasoning. and then put it in the blender it should taste MUCH better.

I'm not sure when you're supposed to start feeding meat to a baby, but when you do i would buy some organic chicken from Whole Foods or someplace, broil it ,and mince it in a food processor until its the consistency of mush and only then feed it to the baby.

gerber and beachnut make meats with veggies mixed. like veggie and chicken , sweet potato and turkey etc... maybe your baby doesnt care for the meat alone. also i have tried delmonte baby food and my daughter also gags, i guess its the consistency. try different brands and flavors until the child likes it... or maybe hold off another week or so, he might not be ready.

I agree with the person who said to grind up the chicken you cook for yourself. My daughter NEVER would eat the baby food from jars. We just bought a little chopper and would grind up what ever we ate. It's not as convenient as opening up a jar, but at least she ate it. Also, babies can get protein from other sources too.

my son is also 8 months old. I boil a piece of chicken in little water , after boiling it for 20 minutes i add veges like tomatoe, potatoe, carrot and an apple ( he likes his food a bit sweet) to it and some boiled rice as well. i let it simmer for further 15 minutes till all veges are tender. then i blend them all together ( i debone the meat from chicken first :-) ) you may add more water to make the right consistency.my son loves it. you
try it . your son might like it too. and please dont give him bottled meat.

Yes with my son he did the same thing so I mixed it half and half with his favorite fruit, then he ate little bits and eventually more then I started putting less fruit more meat then eventually stopped the fruit completely.

U can try to make it yourself... it tastes better and its fresher... get some turkey or chicken breast... boil it for about 15-20 min... put it in the food processor and use some of the liquid u boiled it in to make it easier to process... don't use any salt or seasoning... later on when he is able to eat noodles, you can mix them, you'll see he'll like it...
