Denmark is a constitutional monarchy, one of the oldest monarchies in the world, and is part of the European Union. Greenland and the Faroe Islands are crown territories of Denmark, each with political home rule. Denmark is one of the elected members of the UN Security Council and is a leader in the "Scandinavian Model" of public services.

This is a list of Danish monarchs, that is, the Kings and ruling Queen of Denmark, including Regents of the Kalmar Union. This includes:

The Kingdom of Denmark (up to 1396)
Personal union of Denmark and Norway (1380-1396)
The Kalmar Union (1397-1536)
Kings of Denmark claiming (sometimes successfully) the Crown of Sweden (1397-1523)
Kings of Denmark claiming (mostly successfully) the Crown of Norway (1397-1536)
The Kingdom of Denmark-Norway (1536-1814)
The Kingdom of Denmark (1814 to present)
With Iceland (since the union between Denmark and Norway in 1387. Independent in a personal union with Denmark 1918-1944. Independent republic since 1944)
With Greenland (since the union between Denmark and Norway in 1387. Effective Danish control began in 1721).
With the Faroe Islands (since the union between Denmark and Norway in 1387)

Nice, but totally unnecessary, bit of copying by Tigerlil and nice show of ignorance by those who (a) think Denmark is a republic and (b) think a republic is the same thing as a democracy - for Pete's sake, China is a republic, so is North Korea and most of the independent (and usually corrupt) African states. A republic can be a democracy - USA, India to name but two.

No! Denmark is an illusion made up by terrorists to confuse neo-cons with good intentions. Think about it. When was the last time you met someone who spoke Danish?

But the terrorists lose again. Neo-cons with good intentions are an illusion made up by the real neo-cons. It's all just spy vs. spy stuff.

Denmark has a queen yes, but also a prime minister.. so it's probably more a Democracy, than a Monarchy. The queen doesn't have much to say really, she's almost only a tourist attraction now at days.

Denmark has a democracy, and at the moment, a woman prime minister who represents the Social Democrats :)

Yes, just like nearly every other Western nation. A republic is a country in which the people elect representatives to make laws.

Their monarchy is just a figurehead.
